Skin Prep
Before Your Appointment, a little preparation goes a long way. The better your skin is prepped, the more even, long-lasting, and natural your tan will look. Here's exactly what to do before you come in.
Avoid makeup, perfume, and lotion on the day of your tan — these create a barrier between the solution and your skin.Shave at least 24 hours before your appointment, or wax at least 48 hours prior.Exfoliate 24 hours before using an exfoliating mitt and dry brush to remove dead skin for the smoothest possible base.Book all other beauty services — nails, lashes, brows — before your spray tan, not after.Skip deodorant on the day of your appointment.Do not shower within 8 hours before your session.Do not come in with a sunburn — tanning over burned skin will not give you the result you're looking for. After your appointment, wear loose clothing. A t-shirt and sweatpants are perfect.
Aftercare
After your appointment, your tan continues to develop after you leave — how you treat your skin over the next 24–48 hours determines how deep, even, and long-lasting your glow will be. Follow these steps to protect your results.
When it's time to rinse, use warm water only for 2–5 minutes — rinse until the water runs completely clear. This removes the bronzer, not your tan. Rinse your hands immediately after your session to avoid staining. Avoid touching your skin while your tan is still developing. After every shower, pat — don't rub — your skin dry with a towel. You may shower with soap after 24 hours. Moisturize daily with a spray-tan-safe body lotion. Aveeno and CeraVe are great options. Limit chlorine exposure and avoid hot tubs, which will accelerate fading. Limit shaving and exfoliation until you're ready to remove your tan.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Most spray tans last 7–10 days with proper prep and aftercare. How long yours lasts depends on your skin type, how well you moisturize, and how often you're exposed to water, sweat, or exfoliation.
-
A Traditional tan stays on your skin for 8–12 hours before you rinse — most clients sleep in it and shower in the morning. A Rapid tan can be rinsed in as little as 1–6 hours, depending on the depth of color you want. Both deliver the same long-lasting result. It just comes down to your schedule and preference.
-
No. Every tan is custom-blended to your skin tone using premium solution that's specifically formulated to develop naturally. Orange tones are a product of poor solution quality or bad technique — neither of which you'll find here.
-
Yes. The solutions used are skin-nourishing and free of harsh chemicals. If you have a specific skin condition or allergy concern, reach out before booking so we can discuss what's right for you.
-
Wear or bring loose, dark clothing to change into after your session. Tight clothing can rub against your skin and affect how your tan develops. A t-shirt and sweatpants are ideal.
-
It's best to avoid sweating until after your first rinse. Sweat can cause streaking or uneven development while your tan is still processing. If you know you'll be active, consider the Sweat Resistant add-on at booking.
-
Spray tans fade naturally over time. When you're ready to remove it, exfoliate in the shower using a mitt and a gentle scrub. Shaving also speeds up the fading process.
-
For best results, book your appointment 1–2 days before your event. This allows your tan to fully develop and for any initial bronzer to rinse away before the big day. For bridal clients, a trial session a few weeks in advance is strongly recommended.
